Speese leads Augsburg past St. Kate's

MINNEAPOLIS -- Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the field to lead the No. 15-ranked Augsburg University women's basketball team past St. Catherine University 72-61 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies trailed by two after the first quarter, but used a 15-2 run to start the second quarter and build a double-digit lead. The Wildcats were able to cut Augsburg's lead to five in the fourth quarter, but could get any closer as Augsburg hit 3-of-4 from the free-throw line and capitalized on a fast-break layup in the final minute to seal the victory. 
• Despite battling foul trouble, Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) led the Augsburg offense with 17 points, playing just 17 minutes in the contest.
Jen Masello (SO, Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South HS) led the Auggies on the boards, pulling down a career-best 12 rebounds to go along with nine points and three blocked shots.
Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) finished with 16 points and six rebounds for the Auggies, connecting on 4-for-8 from three-point range.
• Continuing her strong play of late, Kaezha Wubben (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), put up 13 points, hitting 4-of-7 from the field. 
Arianna Jones (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) and Aiza Wilson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) dished out six assists apiece.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 47.3 percent (26-of-55) of its shot attempts, while St. Catherine shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the floor. The Wildcats claimed a 35-27 advantage on the boards, but Augsburg claimed a 35-6 advantage in points off turnovers and a 21-4 advantage in fast-break points.

FOR THE FOES
• St. Catherine was led by Danica Cambrice, who scored a game-high 27 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists.
• Bree Glynn added 10 points and three rebounds for the Wildcats.
