HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Jonathan Waring (JR, Farmington Hills, Mich.) opened the scoring for the Auggies with a 4-on-4 goal 3:36 into the game, snapping a wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle from
Erik Palmqvist (FY, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) and
Charlie Parker (JR, Verona, Wis./Verona HS).
• The Johnnies took the lead with two goals in a 1:45 span, the first a shorthanded marker, and the second goal coming after the officials overturned their initial ruling of no goal on a shot that hit both the crossbar and left pipe. The officials ruled that the shot crossed the goal line following the deflections.Â
• Augsburg tied the game at 2-2 at the 5:30 mark of the second period, as
John O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) scored his first goal of the season, firing the shot over the goalie's shoulder off a faceoff win by
Gunnar Goodmanson (JR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS).
• But the Johnnies scored the last three goals of the game, a power-play goal late in the second period and a pair of goals in the final 1:16, including an empty-net goal.
•
Daniil Gerasimov (JR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) had 18 saves in goal for Augsburg.
