Augsburg falls to No. 7 ranked St. Thomas

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team suffered just its fourth Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback of the season, falling to the No. 7-ranked University of St. Thomas on Wednesday night at Shoenecker Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead, but the St. Thomas offense caught fire and slowly pulled away.
• Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) led the Auggies with 18 points and six rebounds. He finished 5-of-10 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was James Streeter (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Totino Grace HS), who scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
• Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) finished with eight points and added four rebounds, while Joe Palmer (FY, Faribault, Minn./Fairbault HS) added six points and five rebounds for the Auggies.
• Augsburg connected on 40.7 percent shooting from the field (22-of-54), hitting just three 3-pointers. The Tommies hit 55.4 percent (36-of-65) from the field and 15 three-pointers.
• The Tommies posted a 40-25 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• The Tommies were led by a 20-point effort from Tommy Anderson.
• Elijah Hannah added 15 points for St. Thomas.
