NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) scored a season-best 40 points to lead the Augsburg University men's basketball team to another important Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, edging Carleton College 93-89 on Saturday afternoon at West Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Carleton had a 44-43 lead at the intermission, but the Auggies scored the first six points of the second half to take the advantage. Carleton regained the lead about halfway through the frame, but the lead lasted for less than a minute, as Augsburg was able to regain the advantage and extend it to 86-76 with just over a minute to play. Carleton cut the Auggie lead to just four with 20 seconds left. The Auggies were 3-for-4 from the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the victory.
• Coplin scored his 40 points on a 15-of-29 effort, including six three-pointers, while adding five rebounds. It was his third 40-plus-point scoring effort of his Auggie career -- the other two efforts coming against St. Olaf on Feb. 16, 2019 (43 points) and against St. John's on Feb. 23, 2019 (46 points).

Joe Palmer (FY, Faribault, Minn./Fairbault HS) tied his Auggie career-best, finishing with 15 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field, while adding six rebounds.

Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS), who pulled down eight rebounds. He also dished out a team-best four assists to go along with 13 points. Coplin, Palmer and Carik all played the full 40 minutes.

Martin Mitchell (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) added 13 points for the Auggies while
Carter Duncan (SR, Chisago, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) chipped in six points, four rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 48.5 percent (33-of-68) of its shot attempts, while Carleton hit 50.8 percent (32-of-63) from the floor.
• The Auggies claimed a 36-30 advantage on the boards, tied a season-low with five turnovers and posted a 13-3 advantage on points off-turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
• Kent Hanson led the Knights with a 34 point, 12-rebound double-double. He was 11-of-19 from the field and added two blocked shots.
• Alex Battist and Jeremy Beckler added 22 and 18 points respectively for Carleton.
