MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team will be the No. 3 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs, after ending the regular season with a 5-4 loss at the University of St. Thomas on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg had to play from behind for most of the game, after the Tommies broke a 1-1 tie with two goals in a 3:30 span early in the second period.

Jarod Blackowiak (FY, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) tied the game at 1-1 with a goal 40 seconds after a St. Thomas goal, assisted by
Ben Henderson (SR, North Branch, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) and
Michael Redmon (FY, West Bloomfield, Mich./Centennial (Tenn.) HS).

Tommy Carey (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) scored a power-play goal at the 17:09 mark of the second period, assisted by
Patrick O'Connor (SO, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) and
John O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS).

Gavin Holland (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored a power-play goal from Carey and
John O'Connor 2:32 into the third period, and
Austin Martinsen (JR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scored from Carey and
Jonathan Waring (JR, Farmington Hills, Mich.) at the 12:33 mark.
• Augsburg outshot St. Thomas by a 29-27 margin in the game.
Jon Albers (JR, Blaine, Minn./Centennial HS) made his second career start in goal for Augsburg, and collected 22 saves.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Winners of a conference-record four straight MIAC postseason titles, Augsburg will be appearing in the conference playoffs for the sixth straight season and 19th time in program history.
FOR THE FOES
• Jack Christensen and Broydon Stufko scored a goal with an assist each for the Tommies, with John Panvica, Frankie Spellman and Bret Gravelle adding the other St. Thomas goals.
• Camden Burggrabe had 25 saves in goal for St. Thomas.
