MINNEAPOLIS --
Annika Hegrenes (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) tied a career-best performance by scoring five goals for Augsburg University in its season-opening 13-11 loss to Carthage College in nonconference women's lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Carthage opened the game with three goals in the first 6:19 of play, but after that, Augsburg tied the game with three goals in a 2:37 span. Neither team led by more than two goals the rest of the way. Trailing 11-10, Carthage scored the final three goals of the game in the last 6:16 to claim the nonconference win.
• Hegrenes matched a career-high with five goals, and added an assist for a career-best six-point afternoon. She scored three straight goals for the Auggies, straddling the end of the first half and beginning of the second half. Hegrenes added two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
• Making her college debut,
Tess Ryan (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn HS) scored two goals with three assists, adding three draw controls and a ground ball.

Mikayla Knudson (SR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) scored two goals with four caused turnovers, six ground balls and a draw control.

Allie Tuccitto (JR, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) and
Megan Furlong (JR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) scored a goal each, with Tuccitto recording three caused turnovers and a ground ball, and Furlong adding a caused turnovers.
• Returning to the Auggie lineup after not playing last year,
Citlaly Escobar (SO, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) led all players with seven draw controls and fie caused turnovers, while adding four ground balls.
Annabelle Arns (SO, Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS) added two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
• Goalie
Maddie Seykora (JR, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) tied a career-best with 20 saves in goal, as Carthage outshot Augsburg by a 41-17 margin. Seykora also had two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
• Carthage had 26 ground balls to Augsburg's 20, and also held a 15-11 advantage in draw controls.
FOR THE FOES
• Jessie Gibson scored five goals with two assists for a seven-point performance to lead Carthage, adding six draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
• Amy Sorge had three saves in goal for the Lady Reds.
