Auggie lacrosse falls at Loras in MWLC-opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augsburg University women's lacrosse team opened Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play with a 12-9 loss to Loras College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Loras scored five of the first seven goals of the game and led 7-4 at halftime. The Duhawks scored the first three goals of the second half, and though Augsburg scored the next four goals in succession, could not get any closer than two goals the rest of the way.
Allie Tuccitto (JR, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) led the way for the Auggies, scoring four goals.
Annika Hegrenes (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) had another strong all-around game, scoring three goals with an assist, adding seven ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers.
• Mikayla Knudson (SR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) scored a goal with an assist, adding two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
Tehya Reinbold (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville scored a goal.
Hannah Mincy (SO, Des Moines, Iowa/Urbandale HS) had four ground balls and a caused turnover, and Citlaly Escobar (SO, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) had two ground balls.
• Goalie Maddie Seykora (JR, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) had six saves, adding six ground balls.
• Loras outshot Augsburg by a 25-23 margin, had 12 draw controls to Augsburg's 10, and had 20 clearances in 22 attempts, compared to 14-of-24 for Augsburg. 

FOR THE FOES
• Clare Brunn scored six goals with an assist to lead the Duhawks, while Pearl Muller had three goals with an assist, adding six draw controls and two ground balls.
• Lydia Phelps had nine saves and six ground balls in goal for Loras.
