Wilson leads Auggies past Cardinals

WINONA, Minn. -- Aiza Wilson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Augsburg University women's basketball team to a 71-59 victory over Saint Mary's University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night at Saint Mary's Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies trailed 57-52 at the conclusion of the third quarter, but were able to outscore the Cardinals 19-2 in the fourth quarter to seal the come-from-behind win. Augsburg has now clinched a MIAC postseason playoff berth for the fourth time in school history and second season in a row.
• Wilson scored her 22 points, shooting 7-for-24 from the field and a 6-of-12 effort from three-point range, while adding two assists. She now has 210 career three-pointers, one away from tying the MIAC career three-point record of 211, set by St. Thomas' Missy Pederson (1998-2002).
• Leading Augsburg on the boards, Jen Masello (SO, Darien, Ill.,/Downers Grove South HS), who pulled down a team-best nine rebounds to go along with six points and three blocked shots.
• Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, while adding three steals.
• Picking up a game-high five steals, Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) chipped in 11 points and five rebounds.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the field, while the Cardinals connected on 40.0 percent (18-of-45) of their shot attempts.
• Saint Mary's posted a 36-31 advantage on the boards, but the Auggies forced 25 SMU turnovers and turned that into a 25-11 advantage in points off-turnovers. Augsburg also claimed a 22-6 advantage in points in the paint.

FOR THE FOES
• Saint Mary's was led by Shayley Vesel, who scored 20 points, while adding seven rebounds.
• Brooklyn Paulson added 15 points and five rebounds for the Cardinals.
