MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team led by six midway through the first quarter, but couldn't keep up with No. 2-ranked Saint John's University, as the Auggies fell 75-64 in a hard-fought Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg took its largest lead of the game, a 17-11 advantage at the 10:33 mark of the first half. The game was back and forth for the next four minutes, before the Johnnies put together a 13-0 run to go up 33-24 with 1:32 to go in the half. Augsburg scored the finals five points before break and went into the locker room trailing 33-28 at the intermission. Augsburg tied the game at 36-36 at the 16:45 mark of the second, but a 10-0 SJU run allowed the Johnnies to pull away and Augsburg couldn't get closer than eight down the stretch.
• The Auggies were led offensively by a 29-point effort from
Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS). Coplin was 10-of-23 from the field and added eight rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots.
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies wasÂ
James Streeter (JR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) andÂ
Joe Palmer (FY, Faribault, Minn./Fairbault HS), who scored 13 points apiece. Streeter added seven rebounds and a pair of assists, while Palmer pulled down six boards and dished out three assists.
• Augsburg was held to its second-lowest shooting percentage of the season, connecting on 36.2 percent (21-of-58) of its shot attempts. The Johnnies hit 48.0 percent (24-of-50) from the field.
• Augsburg and Saint John's pulled down 34 rebounds apiece.
FOR THE FOES
• Saint John's was led by the duo of Zach Hanson and Jubie Alade, who scored 29 and 24 points respectively.
• Lucas Walford pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.
