ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team dropped a five-set match to Hamline University on Friday night in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After posting a convincing first-set win, the Auggies won three straight points at Hamline's set point in the second set to take the 2-0 lead, before falling to the Pipers in five sets.
• Augsburg was able to record a season-high 194 attack attempts in its fourth five-set match of the season, but unfortunately committed a season-high 32 attack errors and had its second-worst hitting percentage of the season at .119. The Auggies posted their season-best dig performance of the season, recording 112 team digs on the night. However, Hamline earned the advantage in team blocks 12-6 and had nine service aces.

Lexie Lang (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) earned her 11th assist-dig double-double of the season with 43 assists and 17 digs. Lang now has 541 assists on the season and is averaging 8.45 assists per-set, earning double-digit assists in every match this season.
• Defensively,
Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) led the way with a career-best 29 digs, while
Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had season-best 24 digs. Gjerde added 12 kills for her seventh kill-dig double-double of the year.
Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) chipped in 12 digs, three aces and two kills.
• Earning her season-high kill effort was
Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS), with a team-best 15 kills.
Brianna Van Well (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) and
Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) finished with seven kills apiece. Van Well added seven digs, while Evans had six digs, four assists and three blocks (two solo).

Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) chipped in four kills and four blocks (one solo).
Mikayla Coops (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) earned 14 digs, five kills, three assists, two aces and a block assist.
FOR THE FOES
• Rachel Rettman had a match-best 18 kills, adding five blocks (one solo). Sydney Larson had 13 kills for the Pipers, chipping in four blocks (one solo) and four digs.
• Megan Rubbelke earned 41 assists and 15 digs, while Jenna Rubbelke had team-high 26 digs.
