Augsburg suffers loss to Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team suffered a three-set Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday night. 

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Gustavus def. Augsburg 3-0 (25-15 25-12, 25-20)
LOCATION: Gus Young Court, St. Peter, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 10-8 overall (2-2 MIAC), Gustavus 16-4 overall (4-1 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Augsburg was unable to gain any momentum in the match, being out-hit .126-to-.292 by Gustavus, while giving up 10 service aces.
• The Auggies were led at the net by Brianna Van Well (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS), who finished with six kills and two block assists. 
• Mikayla Coops (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) and Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) both earned four kills for Augsburg. Boysen added two solo blocks. 
• Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) finished with three kills apiece. Gjerde also had seven digs, while Evans had a solo block. 
• Lexie Lang (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) collected 21 assists, six digs and two kills. Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) led the Auggies with nine digs. 

FOR THE FOES
• The Gusties were led by Kate Holtan and Sarah Elliott, who finished with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
• Kasie Tweet earned match-high 36 assists, adding eight digs and four service aces. Sydney Olson had six kills and four blocks (two solo).
