Augsburg edged 3-1 by St. Olaf

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday evening at Si Melby Hall.

THE BASICS

RECORDS: Augsburg 12-9 overall (4-3 MIAC), St. Olaf 10-11 overall (5-2 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• It was a tight matchup between the two teams -- who were tied for fourth place in the MIAC standings going into the match -- with only a 10-point differential through all four sets. St. Olaf out-hit Augsburg .243 to .167 in the match, while the Auggies held a 13-to-9 advantage in team blocks and 7-to-4 advantage in service aces. 
• Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) both finished with seven blocks apiece, two solo for Evans. Fullerton added five kills, while Evans had four kills. 
• Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) earned a 14-kill, 23-dig double-double, adding four block assists. Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) was also in double figures in kills with 12, chipping in three digs and a block. 
• Finishing with 24 assists, eight digs, two kills and two aces was Lexie Lang (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS). Izzy Barr (SR, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) had 19 assists and two aces. Libero Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) collected a team-best 26 digs. 
• Playing in two sets, Mikayla Coops (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) had six kills and two blocks. Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) also earned six kills, while chipping in 13 digs, two block assists and two aces. 

FOR THE FOES
• Madison Gully and Catherine Moore combined for 37 kills, Gully with 19 and Moore with 18. 
• Both Ole setters finished with assist-dig double-doubles -- Brynne Gray had 32 assists and 17 digs, while Waverly Thao had 25 assists and 17 digs.
