COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The Augsburg University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season in its 10th game, as its six-game shutout streak came to an end in a 3-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss on Saturday afternoon at Saint John's University.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Saint John's 3, Augsburg 0
LOCATION: Haws Field, Collegeville, Minn.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg saw its shutout streak end at 671:17, a streak spanning parts of eight games, as the Johnnies scored at the 9:45 mark of the first half. Saint John's took a 2-0 lead on a goal in the 41st minute, and scored again in the 59th minute of the win.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG COACH GREG HOLKER
• "Saint John's came out and absolutely out-competed us. They were backed up against a wall after the Concordia result, meanwhile we seemed to be reading all the positive press about our season, and those two side notes showed. I thought Guy Mohs was a difference maker for them and moving him up top to start was a really good move."
• "Picka slammed one in the corner from a long way out that caught us off-guard. Heck of a goal from the former Auggie. Their second goal was bundled from failing to clear a free kick, and then there was nothing we could do about the 6-5 giant out-jumping us to head in the corner kick in the second half. We don't have any Hedstroms on our current team to deal with that."
• "We got outworked and beaten handily today. Maybe it's what we needed."

UP NEXT
• Augsburg travels to face Wisconsin-Eau Claire in a nonconference contest on Tuesday (10/5) at 7 p.m.
• Saint John's hosts St. Olaf next Saturday (10/9) at 4 p.m.
