FINAL SCORE: Wisconsin-Eau Claire 2, Augsburg 1
LOCATION: Simpson Field, Eau Claire, Wis.
RECORDS: Augsburg 9-2-0 overall, UW-Eau Claire 8-2-0 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg took the lead at the 20:15 mark, with De La Torre scoring his fifth goal of the season, heading home a cross on the right side of the 18-yard box from Jonathan Ongeri-Kamara (SO, Richfield, Minn./Bloomington Kennedy HS).
• UW-Eau Claire tied the game on a goal in the 34th minute, then took the lead at the 74:33 mark, on a rebound off a free kick from 25 yards out.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Eau Claire by a 9-6 margin in the game, but was outshot 3-2 in the second half. Augsburg had 10 corner kicks to UW-Eau Claire's two.
• De La Torre, Tomas Piza-Gonzalez (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./Hiawatha Collegiate HS) and Jessie Juarez (FY, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) had two shots each.
• Oscar Herrera (FY, Madison, Wis./Madison West HS) had two saves in goal.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG COACH GREG HOLKER
• "We were outstanding in the first half, moving the ball the way we wanted, pressing them immediately if it turned over, and working hard. It was a lot of fun to watch. We scored a great goal when Spencer drove on the dribble to draw the opponent in before finding Jono on the right side for a cross to a wide open Helio. Beautiful goal."
• The game was filled with a lot of smash and grab type stuff. It was hard to get a rhythm because the referee kept blowing his whistle. Eau Claire had a plan and they made it work when they scored on a long throw from almost 40 yards up the field. We lost a guy on the back post and made a mistake on the goal line and just like that it was level."
• "In the second half, we lowered ourselves a bit into the emotion of the game and lost control of the opponent because of that. It took another silly foul to set up a free kick that they struck off the bar, but we failed to track the only runner coming and he headed it into an open goal."
• "There was a lot of good to come out of this game, certainly. We upped the tempo from Saturday significantly. We learned that we need to be willing to do more than go through our opponent to find goals -- around them is an option, and when we did that we did score. We recognized after reflecting that when we get into some of the gamesmanship, we lose sight of what's important to us and aren't as effective. So there was definitive growth today and that's that these games are for. Unfortunately, we lost Peter Kraus for the rest of the season shortly after he entered the game. That one stings, for sure. Now it's time to regroup and lock back in ahead of Saturday's conference game with Saint Mary's, and shake off these two recent defeats."
