NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- Jaelyn Nedelcoff (FY, Oregon, Wis./Oregon HS) scored her fifth goal of the season in the 55th minute for Augsburg University, but a goal seven minutes later by St. Olaf College lifted the Oles to a 2-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer victory on Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: St. Olaf 2, Augsburg 1
LOCATION: Rolf Mellby Field, Northfield, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 8-6-2 overall (5-4-1 MIAC), St. Olaf 6-9-1 overall (4-6-0 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg surrendered a goal in the 21st minute, but tied the game nine minutes into the second half, as Ana Ortiz (SR, Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus Catholic HS) and Nedelcoff combined for a goal for the second straight game. Ortiz drove the ball deep on the right wing and moved her way into the 18-yard box, sending a short centering pass to Nedelcoff at the top of the box. Nedelcoff finished with a left-foot rising strike to the net.
• St. Olaf gained the lead back with a goal in the 62nd minute. Augsburg had a chance to even the game on a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but the rising shot hit the crossbar.
• Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 17-14 margin in the game, while St. Olaf had five corner kicks to Augsburg's four.
• Ortiz had five shots in the game, while Jennifer Bobaric (JR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) had four shots. Nedelcoff and Jen Masello (SR, Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South HS) had three shots each.
• Goalkeeper Iz Shuster (SO, Waconia, Minn./Waconia HS) had seven saves for Augsburg.

FOR THE FOES
• Tessa Anderson scored from Kate Oehm in the 21st minute, and Lily Hanlon scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute.
• Brynne Davis had six saves in goal for St. Olaf.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Despite the loss, Augsburg clinched a berth in the six-team MIAC postseason playoffs. To clinch the No. 4 seed and a first-round home game in the playoffs, Augsburg must beat Bethel in its regular-season finale on Saturday (10/30), and Gustavus must lose in its home finale against Macalester.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg finishes the regular season with a home game against Bethel on Saturday (10/30) at 1 p.m. at Edor Nelson Field.
• St. Olaf plays at St. Catherine on Saturday at 1 p.m.
