DULUTH, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team secured the No. 5 seed in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs with its three-set victory over the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the final match of the regular season, Augsburg used a balanced attack to claim the victory, hitting .313 as a team in the match. The Auggies hit an impressive .484 in the first set, with 19 kills and just four errors in 31 swings. Meanwhile, St. Scholastica was limited to a .108 attack percentage in the match.

Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) earned her 10th kill-dig double-double of the season, with 12 kills and 10 digs. Gjerde hit at a .524 clip with only one error in 21 attempts.
Brianna Van Well (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) finished with 10 kills and four blocks (one solo).

Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and
Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) collected nine and eight kills, respectively. Boysen added two digs and a block assist, while Evans chipped in three assists, two digs and two block assists.
• Finishing with four kills and three block assists was
Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS).
Mikayla Coops (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) had five kills, while
Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) earned seven digs and a kill.

Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) collected team-high 20 digs, adding four assists and two service aces.

Lexie Lang (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 23 assists, five kills, three digs and an ace. Fellow setter,
Izzy Barr (SR, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS), had 18 assists, seven digs and an ace.
FOR THE FOES
• Madissen Burns led the Saints with seven kills, while Jessica Remer had six kills.
• Alcia Draper collected 11 digs. Ellie Greenwaldt had 12 assists and Katie Brostrom had 10 assists.
