No. 5-ranked Auggies get back on winning track

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Outshooting the hosts by a 42-25 margin, the No. 5-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team got back to its winning ways, scoring a 5-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference triumph at Hamline University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Austin Martinsen (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) claimed his fourth career multi-goal game, scoring two goals with an assist for a three-point night. He scored twice in a 3:01 span midway through the second period, both assisted by Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS).
• Austin Koss (SR, Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) opened the scoring midway through the first period, scoring a power-play goal from Grant Reichenbacher (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS).
• The Auggies capped the scoring with a pair of goals in the third period -- a goal from Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS), assisted by Martinsen and Patrick O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS), and a power-play goal by Dollimer, assisted by O'Connor.
• Augsburg's 42-shot effort, its fifth game with 30-plus shots this season, was paced by Martinsen, who had six shots. Holland, Koss, Logan Kons (SO, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS) and Mason Palmer (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had four shots each.
• Making his third collegiate start in goal, Samuel Vyletelka (FY, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) had 24 saves to pick up the win.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 30-10 margin this season. Augsburg entered the weekend with the top-ranked scoring defense among all NCAA Division III men's hockey teams, with a 1.12 opponent goals against-average.
• Eleven different Auggies have scored goals this season, and 17 different Auggies have recorded either a goal or assist.

FOR THE FOES
• Joe Collins scored for Hamline at the 18:46 mark of the second period, assisted by Brendan Sheehan and Carson Simon.
• Kevin Lake had 37 saves in goal for the Pipers.
