ST. PETER, Minn. – Behind a career-high 21 points from Jack Sorenson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) the Augsburg University men's basketball team earned a 93-81 Minnesota Collegiate Athletic Conference win over Gustavus on Wednesday night at Gus Young Court to stay unbeaten in conference play this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies came out swinging in the game's opening minutes, jumping out to a 7-0 lead less than two minutes in and leading 12-4 at the 17:08 mark. Gustavus responded and cut the deficit to just three near the midpoint of the half, but an 18-4 Augsburg run put the Auggies comfortably back on top. At the half, Augsburg held a 62-35 advantage.
• The Golden Gusties made it a game in the second half as they outscored the Auggies 46-31, but Augsburg hung on for the 12-point win.
•The Auggies shot the ball well in the game as they hit on 33 of their 60 shots (55.0%) while holding Gustavus to 32-of-72 (44.4%) Augsburg also dominated in fast break points, outscoring the Gusties 25-6.
• Sorenson was the scoring leader for the Auggies, notching a career high 21 points on seven-of-10 shooting and five-of-seven from beyond the arc. He also contributed five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the game.
• Joe Palmer (JR, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) had another strong night, scoring 18 on six-of-12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and a steal. Matt Carik (SR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) was also a key contributor, recording 17 points on seven-of-11 from the floor along with three assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
• Rayquan Moore (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) had a great game off the bench, connecting on five of his eight shots, including three of four from deep, for 13 points. Conner Knoepfle (SR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) also reached double figures with 11 points and six rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Following the game, Palmer sits atop the MIAC overall statistics rankings with 8.9 rebounds per-game and also ranks second with 22.6 points per-game.
• The 126th meeting between the two teams all-time, Gustavus now holds a narrow 67-59 advantage in the series. With the win, the Auggies stretched their winning streak over Gustavus to three games and have won six of the last seven meetings.
FOR THE FOES
• Nolan Malo was the scoring leader for the Gusties, notching 21 points on seven-of-14 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.
