MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's basketball team shot a season-best 62.1 percent from the floor in route to a 92-63 victory over Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg put together its best shooting performance of the season, connecting on 60.0 percent (18-of-30) from the field in the first half and 64.3 percent (18-0f-28) in the second half. The Auggies were also 12-of-13 from the free-throw line for the game and posted a 52-24 advantage in points in the paint.
• To start the game, Augsburg jumped out to a 10-2 lead, but Hamline charged back and took a 15-14 advantage at the 13:49 mark. It was a back-and-forth affair until Augsburg went on a 12-2 run late in the half to bring its lead to 15. The Auggies took a 46-34 advantage into the locker room at the intermission. The Pipers got the opening basket of the second half to cut the Auggie lead to 10, but that was as close as they would get as Augsburg extended its lead to as many as 29 points in the second half. Â
• In a balanced scoring effort, five different Auggies finished in double figures. Leading the way wasÂ
Jack Sorenson (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS), who tied a career-high with 19 points, connecting on 8-of-11 from the field. Sorenson also dished out a career-best eight assists and finished with a game-high four steals.

Joe Palmer (SO, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) finished with 16 points and four rebounds for the Auggies, connecting on 6-for-10 from the field.

Bradley Winter (SO, Winona, Minn.) and
Conner Knoepfle (JR, Andover, Minn.) both tied career bests with 15-point efforts. Winter was 6-for-8 from the field and added five rebounds, while Knoepfle was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and added three assists.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was
Matt Carik (SR, Rogers, Minn.), who finished with 11 points, while adding seven assists and a pair of rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
• Hamline was led by Andrew Jackson and Jake Larson, who finished with 17 points apiece.
• Trey Rice led the Pipers on the boards with seven, while adding 10 points.
