MINNEAPOLIS – The Augsburg University men's basketball team fell 81-79 to Saint Mary's University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Monday evening at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg led for nearly 36 minutes of the action, but Saint Mary's rallied late, and a last-second Augsburg shot didn't fall as the Auggies dropped a hard-fought contest to the Cardinals.
• The Auggies were led by
Joe Palmer (SO, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS), who posted his third double-double of the season, finishing with team-high and career-bests of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Palmer was 8-for-15 from the field, while adding three steals and a blocked shot.

Matt Carik (SR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) added 15 points and four assists, while
James Streeter (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) and
Jack Sorenson (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) put up 11 points apiece. Streeter added four rebounds, while Sorenson dished out four assists.

Bradley Winter (SO, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) added eight points and three rebounds, while
Conner Knoepfle (JR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) added seven points and five assists.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the field, while the Cardinals connected on 54.2 percent (32-of-59) of their shot attempts. Saint Mary's claimed a 38-31 advantage on the boards, but the Auggies outscored the Cardinals at the free throw line -- connecting on 17-of-20, compared to 8-of-19 for SMU.
FOR THE FOES
• Saint Mary's was led by Raheem Anthony, who finished with a game-high 25 points.
• Eli Cave posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for the Cardinals.
