MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University softball team split a nonconference doubleheader with Northland College on Monday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field, winning the first game 2-1 and falling 5-4 in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Sabriya Passmore (SO, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS) pitched her best game of the season so far, striking out three while walking two and allowing just three Northland hits in a complete-game effort. Two of Northland's three hits came in the third inning, when it scored its lone run.
• Augsburg took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out,
Olivia O'Connor (FY, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and
Olivia Dynneson (FY, Minneapolis, Minn./South HS) walked.
Grace Syson (FY, Oshkosh, Wis./Lourdes Academy HS) laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the throw to first sailed into right field, and O'Connor and pinch runner
Sammie Balint (SO, Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) were able to score.
• Augsburg was held to three hits in the game -- with two singles coming from
Katie Manecke (FY, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS). Dynneson had the other Auggie base hit.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Northland scored a run in the first inning, then plated four runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-0 lead. But Augsburg rallied back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, as leadoff hitters
Bella Kallas (SR, Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) and
Kayla Hanson (JR, St. James, Minn./St. James HS) each hit singles, and with two outs,
Sara Deming (FY, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) stroked a two-run single.
Mackenzie Evenson (SR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) then hit a run-scoring double to deep center, plating Deming.
• Dynneson led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a double, and came home to score on a Kallas sacrifice fly. A walk put the tying run on first with two outs, but an infield groundout ended the game.
• O'Connor struck out three while walking three in 5.1 innings of work, with Kallas getting a strikeout against a walk in 1.2 innings of relief.
• Dynneson had two hits, both doubles.
FOR THE FOES
• Sofia Garcia struck out five against five walks and three hits to gain the win in the first game, while Kayla Priesler had three strikeouts against one walk in the second game.
• Jenna Reyes had two hits in the first game for Northland, and had three hits, including a two-run triple, in the second game. Kaylee Harnack had two hits, including a double, in the second game, and scored two runs, and Saylor Donnelly had two hits, including a double.
