MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team faced a strong offense in the Concordia University-Wisconsin Falcons, dropping both games in a nonconference doubleheader on Sunday evening at U.S. Bank Stadium.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Falcons' bats got hot in the second inning and stayed that way for the rest of the game, scoring at least one run in every inning other than the first and sixth. Eleven of their 13 runs were earned.
• The Auggies earned four hits in the game, all singles.
Kyle Hoppe (SR, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) singled in the third inning, while
Noah Thomas (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) hit his single in the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth,
Connor Stoik (SO, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) hit a single to right field and pinch hitter
Isaac Flynn (SO, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) drove a single through the left side in the seventh inning.

Mathew Nicklay (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) got the start on the mound for the Auggies and pitched two innings.
John Retterath (SO, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and Lucas Nyberg (SO, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) each pitched two innings of relief, getting two strikeouts each.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg's bats came alive in the second game, starting strong in the top of the first inning. Thomas singled his first time up, then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Jack Baumgart (JR, Willmar, Minn./Willmar HS) hit a double to right center, plating Thomas, for his first RBI of the season. Baumgart then crossed the plate on a double by
Austin Jerylo (JR, Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), giving the Auggies a 2-0 lead.
• Concordia-Wisconsin gained a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second, scoring four unearned runs after an unfortunate two-out throwing error by the Auggies.
• Augsburg narrowed the Falcons' lead to 4-3 in the fourth inning, when
Clint Mattson (SO, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Josh Tyler (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS), who had doubled down the left field line to start the inning.
• The Falcons were able to pull away in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two more runs off a home run to center field, leading to the final score of 6-3.

Matt Moe (JR, St. Cloud, Minn./Becker HS) struck out two batters in two innings of work.
Luke Johnson (SO, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) pitched four innings of relief for Augsburg.
FOR THE FOES
• Sean Tillmon went 6-four-9 in the doubleheader, scoring four runs and earning three RBI's, to lead Concordia-Wisconsin.
• Pitchers, Tyler Drezek and Bradlee Sumner, each earned a win in their respective games. Drezek struck out four hitters and did not give up a run.
