Guidelines for media regarding 2021 competition

For media (photographers, videographers, broadcasters, journalists) that wish to cover Augsburg University Athletics, here are our policies for the 2020-21 school year.

• All media and photographers/videographers who intend to cover Augsburg University home athletic events must be approved by the Augsburg Sports Information Director.
• Media who wish to cover Augsburg University home athletic events must submit a credential request, in writing, to stoner@augsburg.edu at least 48 hours before the event. NO credential requests will be approved on the date of the game.
• All photographers/videographers must have legitimate credentials, such as credentials from a legitimate media outlet, established professional standing, or prior approval by a school's Sports Information Director or designee, in order to shoot Augsburg University home athletic events. Credentials will not be issued to individuals working on a freelance basis without proper standing. Individuals may be asked to submit a web address showing recent examples of work in order to establish proper standing.
• All media must stay at least 12 feet away at all times from all event staff, coaches and student-athletes.
• In the gymnasium, all photographers/videographers will shoot from the bleachers, at least four rows up from the court. Absolutely no media will be allowed on the court for basketball. For volleyball, photographers/videographers can shoot from the court on the west wall (the wall with the American flag), staying behind the basketball baseline and at least six feet away from any players on the court/bench. No photographers/videographers will be permitted on the east baseline of the court.
• For soccer and lacrosse at Edor Nelson Field, photographers/videographers must shoot from the north sideline, closest to the bleachers. No photographers/videographers will be allowed in the end zone area or on the south side (bench area).
• For softball at Edor Nelson Field, photographers/videographers must shoot from along the fences beyond the infield (beyond third base and first base) or from the outfield. No photographers/videographers will be allowed in the bench areas or behind the plate.
• For football at Edor Nelson Field, photographers/videographers must shoot from behind the maroon lines from the end zone to the 20-yard line on either sideline. No photographers/videographers will be allowed in the end zone area or team bench areas.
• For baseball at Parade Stadium, photographers/videographers must shoot from the bleachers or in the "out of play" areas down the left field and right field lines.
• In the ice arena, all photographers/videographers will shoot from the bleachers, the standing area adjacent to the Zamboni garage, or the standing area adjacent to the main entry doors. All media will be restricted to the East half of the arena; no media will be allowed near the locker rooms or bench areas.
• Broadcasters must bring their own equipment, including power cords.
• Media must arrive at Augsburg between 90 minutes and 30 minutes before the start time of the event, and must arrange with Augsburg SID Don Stoner (stoner@augsburg.edu) for entry, as entry doors to athletic facilities will be locked.
• No pregame or postgame live interviews with staff, coaches or student-athletes will be permitted. Any interviews will be done by phone or arranged via Zoom teleconference.
• All media must wear protective masks at all times.
• All media members are recommended to have a negative PCR test for COVID symptoms at least once during the week prior to the event.
• As media enter the facility, they will be subject to a symptom check (temperature taken, answer questions regarding possible symptoms). Media who fail to pass the symptom check will be asked to leave.
• Photographers/videographers wishing to shot Augsburg teams at road events must contact the host sports information director for its photo/video policies.
• All Augsburg home events, and most road events, will be webcast live and free of charge to all viewers. Augsburg home events can be viewed on our Stretch Internet portal, and a complete list of webcasts/live statistics for all Auggie events will be available on gamedays on the athletic homepage, and also available on the following page: https://athletics.augsburg.edu/coverage (link).
