MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University volleyball team swept Concordia College-Moorhead for the second time this season, in its first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home match of the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was able to make quick work of Concordia, sweeping the Cobbers in three sets while out-hitting them .252 to .174.
• The Auggies were led by two first-year athletes,
Mikayla Coops (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) and
Bri Van Well (FY, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS). Coops earned team-highs in digs and serve receptions with 21 and 25, respectively; while adding two aces, two assists and a kill. Van Well had a team-best eight kills, hitting at a .462 clip.

Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS),
Jade Fullerton (JR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) and
Jade Boysen (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) all finished with six kills for Augsburg. Nierengarten also had seven digs, six service aces and a block assist. Boysen had three block assists, while Fullerton collected two assists and a block assist.
• Earning five Auggie kills each were
Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) and
Kayla Gjerde (JR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS). Evans added a match-best four block assists and two assists, while Gjerde had 16 digs.

Lexie Lang (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 12 assists, seven digs and four kills. Fellow setter,
Izzy Barr (JR, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS), earned 18 assists, four digs and two aces.
FOR THE FOES
• Bailey Gronner led the Cobbers' offense with 10 kills. Anna Brakke finished with nine kills and a team-best 12 digs.
• Setter, Jill Klaphake had 18 assists for Concordia.
