MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University volleyball team swept the University of St. Thomas in straight sets in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home match on Friday evening. Friday's win marked only the sixth time in program history that the Auggies have swept the Tommies in three sets, and the Auggies' first sweep of St. Thomas since 2015.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies earned the sweep with great team defense, recording eight team blocks and 56 digs, while also being very efficient offensively -- out-hitting the Tommies .243 to .184.
• The Auggies were led by
Kayla Gjerde (JR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) with a match-best 13 kills, nine digs and one block assist.
Jade Boysen (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had 11 kills, finishing with an attack percentage of .400, with only one error on 25 attempts. Boysen also had two block assists.

Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) finished with six kills, three blocks (two solo), a dig, an assist and a service ace.
Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) had 10 digs, five kills and three aces.
Bri Van Well (FY, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) chipped in four kills and a block assist.

Jade Fullerton (JR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) came up big at the net, collecting five blocks (two solo) and four kills.

Izzy Barr (JR, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) and
Lexie Lang (JR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) split the setting duties for the Auggies, finishing with 21 and 17 assists respectively. Barr added eight digs and two aces, while Lang had six digs, an ace and a kill.
• Anchoring the Augsburg defense and earning a match-high in digs was
Mikayla Coops (FY, Belle Plaine, Minn./Belle Plaine HS) with 19.
FOR THE FOES
• Selena Levendoski led the Tommies with 10 kills and hit .273 with four blocks (one solo) in the match.
• Grace Anetipa finished with match-high 30 assists, while Meghan Mazzola had a team-high 16 digs.
