MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games to St. John's University on Saturday afternoon at Parade Stadium.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg opened the scoring by driving in a run in the first inning. St. John's responded in the second inning, taking a 2-1 lead. The Johnnie bats stayed hot the rest of the game, driving in runs in every inning except the third.
• Augsburg's run in the first inning started with a two-out double by
Michael Weiss (SO, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS), who later crossed the plate when
Steven Salz (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) doubled down the left field line.
• The other six Auggie hits of the game were all singles --
Rico Rodriguez (SO, Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) in the second inning, Weiss in the third,
Carson Tomony (SO, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) and
Matt Krenz (JR, Becker, Minn./Becker HS) in the fourth,
Austin Jerylo (JR, Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) and
Connor Stoik (SO, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) in the seventh inning.

Luke Johnson (SO, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) saw three innings on the mound for the Auggies, with
Kaden Gage (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS),
Lukas Nyberg (SO, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) and
James Lee (SR, West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) pitching relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg was able to claim six hits in the game, but were unable to piece them together to score a run.
• Tomony had the only extra-base hit of the game for the Auggies, hitting a double to right field in the seventh inning. Tomony also had a single in the third inning.
• Weiss, Salz,
Jack Baumgart (JR, Willmar, Minn./Willmar HS) and
Clint Mattson (SO, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) accounted for the other four hits, all singles.

John Retterath (SO, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS) pitched 3.2 innings for the Auggies, striking out six batters.
Matt Moe (JR, St. Cloud, Minn./Becker HS) threw 2.1 innings of relief while
Weston Schug (JR, Becker, Minn./Becker HS) had three innings of relief work.
FOR THE FOES
• Matt Hayford lead the Johnnies' offense going 6-for-10, scoring six runs and earning a RBI.
• Kody Dalen pitched seven scoreless innings in game two, striking out six. Hunter Ault completed the shutout, striking out four, in two innings of relief.
