ST. PAUL, MINN. -- The Augsburg University baseball team was held scoreless in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup loss to Hamline University on Sunday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg had six hits -- all singles -- in the game but were unable to piece them together to score any runs, leaving nine runners on base; while Hamline scored six runs on nine hits. The Auggies had the bases loaded with no outs in both the third and fifth innings, but Hamline was able to turn a 1-2-3 double play in both innings to halt an Augsburg run from scoring.
• Both
Clint Mattson (SO, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) and
Tim Lavin (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) finished 2-for-4 for the Auggie offense.

Jack Baumgart (JR, Willmar, Minn./Willmar HS) and
Noah Thomas (SO, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) picked up the other two Auggie hits.
• Three Auggie pitchers worked in the game and each gave up two runs.
Connor Stoik (SO, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) got the start and suffered the loss, striking out two in two innings pitched.
Cam Fischer (FY, Becker, Minn./Becker HS) threw 4.2 innings and struck out two batters against one walk.
Matt Moe (JR, St. Cloud, Minn./Becker HS) finished the game for Augsburg, throwing 1.1 innings and striking out one batter.
FOR THE FOES
• Matt Rusch and Braeden Bourne both finished 2-for-4, earning a RBI each. Cullen Buck had a two-RBI single in the seventh inning.
• Today's shutout of the Auggies is the first shutout of the season for Hamline.
