MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team opened Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a three-set sweep over Concordia College-Moorhead on Wednesday night on the road at Memorial Auditorium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After a slow start to the first set, trailing the Cobbers 12-6, the Auggies chipped their way out of the deficit and won the set 27-25. Augsburg went on to win the next two sets handily, 25-17 and 25-16. Hitting only .107 in the first set, the Augsburg offense improved consistently, hitting .308 in the second and .341 in the third set, finishing with a .237 team attack percentage in the match.

Brianna Van Well (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) and
Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) paced the Auggie offense, finishing with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) finished with a .471 hitting percentage, with nine kills and one error on 17 attempts. Van Well and Fullerton both finished with two blocks (one solo).

Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had 12 digs and eight kills in the match. Also finishing with eight kills was
Corrina Evans (SR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS), who added five digs.

Angel Khang (SO, Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul HS) collected 16 digs, while
Maddie Nierengarten (SR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) had 11 digs.

Lexie Lang (SR, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) handled the setting duties for Augsburg, finishing with 44 assists and 12 digs, her sixth assist-dig double-double of the year. Lang added three kills and two service aces.

Georgia Paul (FY, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) picked up seven digs and an assists.
FOR THE FOES
• Kendra Wiggs had 11 kills to lead the Cobbers, while Anna Brakke finished with 10 kills and 12 digs.
• Kenzie Urbanec collected 31 assists and five digs. Chloe Markovic earned team-best 16 digs.
