MINNEAPOLIS --

THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg 3, St. Scholastica 0
LOCATION: Edor Nelson Field, Minneapolis
RECORDS: Augsburg 8-0-0 overall (3-0-0 MIAC), St. Scholastica 5-4-0 overall (2-2-0 MIAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Owu started the scoring just 35 seconds into the game. Piza-Gonzalez gained the ball deep in the Saints' zone on a turnover, then slid the ball across to Owu, who had a wide-open, close shot for the goal.
• Owu returned the favor to Piza-Gonzalez nine minutes later following a corner kick. Owu fed Piza-Gonzalez, who nailed a nice crossing shot to the right corner of the net.
• The duo completed the scoring in the 54th minute, as Piza-Gonzalez drove the ball to the middle of the 18-yard box, forcing the Saints' goalkeeper away, and he fed the ball to an open Owu for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
• Augsburg played a solid, physical game against the Saints, claiming a 15-11 advantage in shots and a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks. The Auggies were able to play 22 players in the contest.
• Goalkeeper
Oscar Herrera (FY, Madison, Wis./Madison West HS) collected his fourth shutout win of the season, and Augsburg's fifth straight shutout victory, with a five-save effort.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 21-3 margin, and last surrendered a goal at the 1:50 mark of its 2-1 win over Puget Sound (Wash.) on Sept. 4. The Auggies now have a shutout streak of 554:26, spanning parts of six games.

QUOTES FROM AUGSBURG COACH GREG HOLKER
• "We were not at our best today, especially in the first half. I am guessing St. Scholastica feels the same way. Regardless, we grabbed the early goal and then the second within 10 minutes, and we knew the third goal would decide the game, so for Tomas to be as unselfish as he was to set Kobby up for the brace really exemplifies our values."
• "
Alex Ruiz did really well today filling in for
Nick Zuchowski, and
Jorge Radilla Elizalde was incredible in defense. When we have to adjust for something, we do. It's great to see the guys find different ways to win and different ways to play - that certainly came out today."
UP NEXT

• St. Scholastica plays at Northland (Wis.) in a nonconference game on Wednesday (9/29) at 6 p.m.
