OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Goals in the opening and closing minutes of play by
Fritz Belisle (JR, Red Wing, Minn./Roseville Area HS) and a 22-save shutout by
Samuel Vyletelka (FY, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) enabled the Augsburg University men's hockey team to claim the title at the Oswego State University Hockey Classic on Sunday afternoon, with a 2-0 win over Skidmore College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Belisle opened the game with a goal 1:12 into play.Â
Erik Palmqvist (JR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) and
Kyler Yeo (SO, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) brought the puck up the ice on a give-and-go breakout, and after Palmqvist fired a shot on-goal, Belisle gained the rebound and put it in the net.
• Belisle recorded his first collegiate multi-goal game with an empty-net goal with 35 seconds left, assisted by Yeo and
Lucas Niezelski (SR, Manchester, Conn./East Catholic HS).
• Augsburg outshot Skidmore by a 26-22 margin in the game, with a 9-5 advantage in the first period and 13-8 advantage in the third period.
• In his fifth collegiate game, Vyletelka recorded his third shutout -- a total that leads all NCAA Division III players so far this season -- with a 22-save effort. He is now 4-1-0 on the year with a 1.00 goals against-average and a .959 save percentage.
• Augsburg, which entered the game with the top scoring defense
among NCAA Division III teams nationally (1.38 goals allowed per-game), claimed its fourth shutout win as a team this season. Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 41-18 margin this season.
• Augsburg held Skidmore scoreless on five power-play opportunities in the game. On the season, Augsburg has allowed just six opponent power-play goals in 53 opportunities, an 88.7-percent penalty kill rate that now stands 10th-best among NCAA Division III teams nationally.

Patrick O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) had five shots on-goal in the game, while Belisle,
Austin Martinsen (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) and
Konnor Carlson (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) had three shots each.

Jarod Blackowiak (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS), who scored the game-winning goal in
Augsburg's 2-1 win over host Oswego State (N.Y.) on Saturday, earned All-Tournament first-team honors and was named Tournament Most Valuable Player. Vyletelka was named to the All-Tournament second team.
