Lund's hat trick leads Auggies in 7-1 win

MINNEAPOLIS – Keenan Lund (JR, Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) claimed his first collegiate hat trick, scoring three goals with an assist for a four-piont night, leading the No. 4-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team to a 7-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over St. Olaf College on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• A transfer who played his first two years of collegiate hockey at the Division I U.S. Air Force Academy, Lund scored a goal in each period to pick up his hat trick. He scored a power-play goal from Mason Palmer (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and Grant Reichenbacher (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) at the 16:05 mark of the first period, then scored again from Palmer at the 15:37 mark of the second period. He capped his hat trick with a goal from Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) 2:54 into the third period. 
• Dollimer opened the scoring for the Auggies with a goal 6:28 into the game and added two assists for a three-point night.
• Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored a power-play goal, Nick Woodward (SR, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS) scored a goal in the second period, and Austin Martinsen (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) capped the scoring with a goal in the third period.
• Palmer had a collegiate-high four assists on the evening, giving him a team-high-tying 15 assists on the season. A transfer from Division I Northern Michigan, Palmer has had assists in 11 of his 19 games this season.
• Augsburg dominated on offense throughout the game, outshooting St. Olaf by a 57-25 margin in the game -- its most shots on-goal in a regulation game since a 63-shot effort in a 9-2 win over Northland (Wis.) on Nov. 22, 2013.
• Tommy Carls (SO, Coon Rapids, Minn./Centennial HS), Logan Kons (SO, Niles, Ill./Niles West HS) and Jarod Blackowiak (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) also had assists for the Auggies.
• Samuel Vyletelka (FY, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) had 24 saves in goal for the Auggies.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 68-29 margin this season. The Auggies entered the game with the fourth-best scoring defense among all NCAA Division III men's hockey programs, allowing an average of 1.56 goals per-game. 
• Sixteen of the 22 skaters who have seen action for Augsburg this season have scored goals, and 21 different players have had a goal or an assist.

FOR THE FOES
• Eric Brown scored St. Olaf's lone goal, assisted by Brendan Darby and Connor Kalthoff, at the 7:58 mark of the first period.
• St. Olaf goalie Thomas Lalonde had 33 saves in 36 minutes of action, with Lukas Haugen recording 17 saves in 24 minutes of relief.
