MINNEAPOLIS – Behind a first-period goal by
Gavin Holland (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) and a third-period goal from
Austin Martinsen (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), the No. 4-ranked Augsburg University men's hockey team claimed its ninth straight win, a 2-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg struck first just 93 seconds into the game, as Holland scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season, picking up a loose puck in the neutral zone and firing a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle into the net.
Andrew Hicks (SO, Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and
Austin Koss (SR, Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) received assists on the goal.
• The Auggies outshot the Gusties by a 19-3 margin in the first period, en route to a 38-19 shots on-goal advantage in the game. But the Gusties were able to tie the game early in the second period, and the game stayed close the rest of the way.
• Augsburg took the lead on a power-play goal 3:11 into the third period. Martinsen scored his 10th goal of the season, taking a one-timer from the slot off a cross-ice pass from Holland.
Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) had the second assist on the goal.

Jack Robbel (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) had 18 saves in goal for Augsburg, improving to 11-1-0 on the season.

• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 70-30 margin this season.
FOR THE FOES
• Brandon McNamara scored for the Gusties at the 2:27 mark of the second period, assisted by Nick Mohs-Messerli and Nick Klischko.
• Gustavus goalie Justin Damon had 36 saves.
