Braden Tretter (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) caught 10 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown, as Augsburg University claimed "The Hammer" football traveling trophy with Hamline University for the third year in a row with a 42-21 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football win on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• For the second straight week, Augsburg had more rushing yards (287) than passing yards (256) in another balanced attack – the first time that the Auggies have had more rushing than passing yards in consecutive games since the 2015 season. Augsburg averaged 7.1 yards per-play on 77 offensive plays, outgaining Hamline by a 543-to-410 margin.
• Augsburg held a 37:18-to-22:42 advantage in time of possession, and had three scoring drives of 10 plays or more – a 10-play, 86-yard, 4:24 drive for a touchdown in the first quarter, a 13-play, 76-yard, 6:05 drive for a score late in the second quarter, and a 12-play, 75-yard, 5:54 drive for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Auggies also took advantage of three Piper turnovers – a fumble and two interceptions by
Camdin Carlson-Mathies (SR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) – and scored 14 points on drives off those turnovers.
• The Auggies surrendered the first points of the game, as Hamline scored on its opening drive. But the Auggies scored 28 points in a row, taking a 28-7 lead after three quarters.
• Monroe had a 100-yard rushing day for the second time this season, rushing for 176 yards on 25 carries, scoring on a two-yard touchdown late in the first quarter.
Tre Lee (SR, Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) rushed 12 times for 43 yards, scoring on a two-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter.
• QuarterbackÂ
Cade Sheehan (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) completed 19-of-28 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing eight times for 51 yards and a nine-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
• Tretter claimed his fifth career 100-yard receiving performance, and third this season, with his 11-catch, 114-yard effort, catching a four-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Dominic Smith (SO, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) caught eight passes for 66 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Michael Ims (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) caught three passes for 54 yards, and
Devin Schelske (SO, Pocatello, Idaho/Century HS) caught a seven-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.Â
• Defensively, Carlson-Mathies had his first career multi-interception game, picking off a pass early in the second quarter and another midway through the fourth quarter that eventually led to an Auggie touchdown. He now has four interceptions on the season and six in his career.

Justin Tverberg (SO, Farmington, Minn./Hastings HS) led the Auggie defense with nine tackles (eight solo), adding a blocked field goal at the end of the second quarter.
Charles Otu (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) had six tackles (six solo), and
Jaylan Lomax (SO, Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) and
Shaquille Young (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Tartan HS) had five tackles each, with Lomax breaking up a pass and Young forcing a fumble.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The win was the third straight for Augsburg over Hamline in the battle for "The Hammer" traveling trophy. Augsburg has won nine of the last 12 meetings between the two schools.
• Since "The Hammer" trophy game was established in 2005, Augsburg is now 13-4 in the teams' 17 meetings.
FOR THE FOES
• Alejandro Villanueva completed 19-of-30 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing eight time for 98 yards and a score. Charlie Wilson and Ryder Hutton caught touchdown passes for the Pipers.
• Ryan Kouri and Jevon Jones had eight tackles each for Hamline.
