Bati qualifies for nationals at region championships

MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Finishing seventh in a field of 209 runners at the NCAA Division III North Region Cross Country Championships, Augsburg University's Mohammed Bati (FY, Dodola, Ethiopia/GAP School) became the first Auggie to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships since Michaele Tesema in 2012.

AUGSBURG MEN
• Bati clocked a time of 24:44.0 in the 8,000-meter race, good for seventh place overall. Among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competitors, Bati placed third behind Logan Bocovich and Will Kelly of St. Olaf. By virtue of his seventh-place finish, Bati qualifies for the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships next weekend in Lansing, Mich., becoming just the seventh Auggie ever to qualify for nationals (fifth among Augsburg men).
• Sakariya Hussien (JR, Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) crossed the finish line second for Augsburg, landing in 117th place (115th team) with a time of 27:06.5. Getinat Asfaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Rosemount HS) was just seconds behind him, clocking a 27:10.0 to finish 120th (118th team).
• Bereket Wondimu (SO, Eagan, Minn./Burnsville HS) claimed 131st place (129th team) after posting a time of 27:26.6. Henry Nelson (FY, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) crossed the line at 28:44.7 to finish 172nd (166th team) while Grayson Harris (SO, Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge HS) logged a time of 28:49.5, good for 174th (168th team). Max Jacobson (SO, Belle Plaine, Minn./Zurich International School) rounded out the Auggie men in 185th (176th team) with a time of 29:29.7.

AUGSBURG WOMEN

• The Auggie women were once again paced by Gracie Johnson (JR, Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing HS) as she finished 69th with a time of 24:07.0 in the 6,000-meter race.
• Brooklyn Conrad (FY, Ortonville, Minn./ Ortonville HS) was the next Auggie to finish, claiming 186th (185th team) with a time of 26:40.4. Chloe Kintop (SR, Foxboro, Wis./Superior HS) finished 214th, clocking a time of 28:30.3 while Mikalah Konz (FY, Bingham Lake, Minn./Windom HS) finished 219th (216th team) in 29:24.0.
• Annabel Lantz (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) finished 225th (222nd team) in 31:30.7 and Ingri Ramirez (SR, West St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) rounded out the Auggie women in 230th (226th team) with a time of 35:22.0.

• Bati will compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships at Forest Akers in Lansing, Mich. on Saturday, November 19 at 11 am (Central Time).
