Vincent Weis (JR, Madison, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) scored a pair of goals, and goalie
Samuel Vyletelka (SO, Zilina, Slovakia/Grammar School of St. Francis of Assisi) stopped all 32 shots he faced for his sixth career shutout, as the Augsburg University men's hockey team opened Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 win at Saint Mary's University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The No. 5-ranked team in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll, Augsburg dominated play, outshooting Saint Mary's by a 51-32 margin.
• Augsburg struck quickly, scoring twice in the opening 2:44 of play. Grant Reichenacher (SR, Verona, Wis./Madison Edgewood HS) redirected a
Nick Woodward (SR, Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque HS) shot into the net at the 1:50 mark, with the second assist going to
Michael Ferrandino (SO, Lisle, Ill./Waterloo West (Iowa) HS).
• Fifty-four seconds after Woodward's goal, Weis scored his first goal as an Auggie, scoring on a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle off feeds from
Daniel Chladek (JR, Anaheim, Calif./Canyon HS) and
Erik Palmqvist (SR, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet). The goal was the first in the collegiate career for Weis, a transfer who played his first two years at Division I St. Thomas.
• The Auggies took a 3-0 lead at the 13:36 mark of the first period, as
Kyler Yeo (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) scoring on a rebound off shots in front by
Dylan Schneider (SO, Rochester, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary's HS) and
Michael Redmon (SR, Brighton, Mich./Centennial (Tenn.) HS).
• Weis scored his second goal of the game 2:07 in to the third period, picking up a loose puck in the slot and scoring on a shot that deflected off a Saint Mary's defender in front.
Andrew Hicks (JR, Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka HS) and
Austin Dollimer (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) received assists on the goal.
• Vyletelka claimed his first shutout of the season and sixth of his college career, stopping a career-high 32 shots -- his second 30-plus-save effort in his 20th career game.
FOR THE FOES
• A.J. Ruskowski had two saves on four shots in goal, before being relieved by Matt Sankner. Sankner had 45 saves in 57:16 in goal for the Cardinals.
