Three Auggies earn MIAC volleyball honors

2022 MIAC VOLLEYBALL AWARDS

MINNEAPOLIS  – Three Augsburg University volleyball players earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) and Kevin Boysen (SR, Rochester, Minn./Rochester HS) were each named All-MIAC and Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) was named All-MIAC Honorable Mention, it was announced on Wednesday.

Jade FullertonFullerton's All-MIAC distinction comes as the first of her career. As a middle blocker, Fullerton led the conference in total blocks (95) and blocks per-set (1.16) while ranking third in hitting percentage (.308). She finishes the season with 205 kills, 10 set assists, and 21 digs.

In her career, Fullerton has compiled 343 total blocks (second in program history), 576 kills, and 80 digs.

Kevin BoysenBoysen earned All-MIAC honors for the second time in her career after previously earning the distinction in 2021. As a right-side hitter for the Auggies, she finished second on the team with 226 kills and also tallied 174 digs and 45 blocks.

Throughout her career, Boysen has logged 870 kills (10th in program history), 301 digs, and 292 blocks (sixth in program history).

Kayla GjerdeGjerde's honorable mention selection marks her third conference honor in her career, having previously been named All-MIAC in 2019 and 2021. She finished the season ranked third on the team with 211 kills and second on the team with 254 digs, also contributing 27 blocks.

Gjerde is one of the most accomplished players in program history, finishing her career with 1,079 kills (third in school history) and 1,179 digs (11th in school history), becoming one of just four Auggies who have recorded 1,000-plus digs and kills in their careers.

Under 13th year head coach Jane Becker, the Auggies finished 17-8 overall (6-5 MIAC) and earned the sixth seed in the MIAC Playoffs.
