ST. PETER, Minn. – The Augsburg University women's basketball team headed south to take on Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Gusties 60-39 at Gus Young Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies led for much of the opening quarter, holding a 9-6 advantage with 4:18 left to play. The Gustavus defense stepped up big in the following minutes, holding the Auggies scoreless and using a 4-0 run to regain the lead at 10-9 at the first quarter break. Gustavus dominated the second quarter by a margin of 21-7 to extend its lead to 15 at halftime.
• Augsburg never fully recovered in the second half as the deficit never dropped below 13 while the Gusties,
who received nine votes in the most recent d3hoops.com poll, cruised to the 60-39 win.

Alli Born (FY, Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) was a bright spot for the Auggie offense, scoring a career-high 14 points on 5-12 shooting while grabbing two blocks and a steal.
Anja Smith (JR, Kewaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) was the only other Auggie in double figures with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Kalena Myers (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) and
Samaiya Buchanan (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Richfield HS) added five and four points, respectively.
• Augsburg had trouble getting shots to fall all game long, hitting on just 16 of its 56 attempts (28.6%) while the Gusties shot 24-53 (45.3%). Augsburg was more effective in generating scoring off turnovers, outscoring Gustavus 17-14 in the category.
FOR THE FOES
• Morgan Kelly led Gustavus with 14 points off the bench while Emma Kniefel scored 10 points on 5-6 shooting.
