MINNEAPOLIS – Fueled by a dominant performance in the fourth quarter, the Augsburg University women's basketball team earned a 56-51 come-from-behind win over Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday evening in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Cobbers got on the board first in the opening quarter and held the lead for its entire duration until Augsburg tied it up at 17 each as time expired. Augsburg took its first lead with the first bucket of the second quarter, but the Cobbers would regain the advantage and work it up to six points as they led 33-27 at halftime.
• Concordia's lead hovered between five and nine for the entirety of the third quarter, culminating in a 44-38 lead at the final quarter break. The Auggies responded with a 7-0 run to open the fourth that gave them a lead at 45-44 with 7:40 to play. The Cobbers would briefly regain the lead on two occasions, but the Auggies proved to be the stronger team down the stretch as they outscored Concordia 18-7 in the fourth and closed the game on a 9-3 run to seal the five-point win.

Anja Smith (JR, Kewaskum, Wis./Saint Mary's Springs HS) was the scoring leader, logging 18 points on 7-19 shooting and pulling down six rebounds with two steals and two blocks.
Kalena Myers (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) also had a strong evening, adding 15 points and three steals for Augsburg.

Samaiya Buchanan (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) tallied seven points while
Grace Eastman (SR, Elk River, Minn./St. Francis HS) and
Nikole Gullerud (SR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) added four points each.
• The Auggies narrowly outshot the Cobbers, knocking down 21 of their 58 attempts (36.2%) compared to Concordia's 15-of-48 (31.3%) performance. Augsburg also won the turnover battle by a margin of 21-16, cashing them in for 23 points while Concordia had just 11. The Auggies dominated the battle down low with a 36-10 advantage in the paint, and used 13 offensive rebounds to score 15 second-chance points while the Cobbers scored just two.
FOR THE FOES
• Claire Sieben finished with a game-high 24 points and added five rebounds and three steals.

• The Auggies will head to St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday (12/10) for their final game of the 2022 calendar year against Gustavus at 3 pm.
