Auggie women edged by Cardinals

MINNEAPOLIS – Kennedy Stein (SO, Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest HS) scored a first-period goal for Augsburg University, but Saint Mary's University scored a pair of second-period goals to claim a 2-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey victory on Saturday afternoon at Ed Saugestad Rink.

• Stein scored her eighth goal of the season at the 7:11 mark of the first period, assisted by Payton Allen (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS).
• The Auggies surrendered two second-period goals to the Cardinals, and were unable to convert on three power-play opportunities in the game.
• Saint Mary's claimed a 30-27 advantage in shots on-goal. Claire Jenkins Coffman (SO, Mount Pleasant, Wis./The Prairie School) had seen shots on-goal, while Emily Cronkhite (FY, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) had six shots.
• Mara McClain (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had 28 saves in goal for the Auggies.

FOR THE FOES
• Kas Kingston scored an unassisted goal at the 3:30 mark of the second period, with Ellie Hegdahl following with a goal from Morgan Leib at the 14:54 mark for the Cardinals.
• Ary Ziakas had 26 saves in goal to pick up the victory.
