MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Augsburg University men's basketball team secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoffs with a 94-64 rout of Concordia-Moorhead on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Cobbers scored the first bucket of the game took a brief lead out of the gates, but the Auggies quickly jumped on top and took a lead that they would never relinquish. Near the midpoint of the first half, the Auggie lead had reached 15. The lead continued to grow, culminating in a 55-24 advantage at halftime.
• Despite the already lopsided score, the Auggie offense was not done as they came out of the locker room and pushed the lead all the way to a game-high 43 points near the midpoint of the second half. Augsburg coasted through the final ten minutes of play, claiming the 30-point win and locking up the second seed in the MIAC playoffs.

Matt Carik (SR, Rogers Minn./Rogers HS) finished with a season-high 22 points, knocking down eight of his 12 shots from the floor including three-of-six from beyond the arc.

Joe Palmer (JR, Faribault, Minn./Faribault HS) added 18 points with an efficient seven-for-11 shooting performance to go along with a team-high six rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
Jack Sorenson (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS) also scored 18 on six-of-10 shooting with three rebounds.

Will Schmidt (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) led all bench scorers for the Auggies with seven points and
Bradley Winter (JR, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) contributed six points on a perfect three-of-three from the floor.
• The Auggies flexed their depth in the game with 12 different players registering points.
• It was a strong shooting night for the Auggies as they knocked down 33 of their 59 shots (55.9%) and 15-of-36 from downtown (41.7%) while holding the Cobbers to just 24-of-64 (37.5%) from the floor and four-of-20 (20.0%) from deep.
• Augsburg's 94 points were its most in a game all season with the previous high of 93 coming in a win over Gustavus on December 8.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Following the game, Palmer remains atop the
MIAC overall statistics rankings with 8.9 rebounds per-game and 21.5 points per-game. Sorenson also ranks first in the conference with a three-point field goal percentage of 45.0%.
FOR THE FOES
• Dylan Inniger led the Cobbers with 16 points off the bench while Jackson Jangula scored 15 points and Rowan Nelson added 12.
