Maylynn Prokopec (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) scored the lone goal of the game for the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team, as the Auggies opened their 2022 campaign with a 20-1 loss to the University of the South (Sewanee) on Sunday afternoon at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sewanee outshot Augsburg by a 37-7 margin, including a 24-3 margin in the first half, as the Tigers built a 14-1 halftime lead en route to the win. Sewanee had 16 draw controls to Augsburg's seven, while recording 35 ground balls to Augsburg's 19.Â
• Prokopec scored Augsburg's lone goal on a free-position shot with 9:08 left in the first quarter. She also had a ground ball and draw control in the game.
• Playing with just 14 players due to individuals competing in winter sports and injuries, the Auggies fielded a lineup that included just five returners and nine first-years playing their first collegiate games.

• Ellie Tate Schutte scored four goals and had eight draw controls for Sewanee, while Lizzie Chamberlin, Hattie Fogarty, Caroline Harlick and Claire Saverino each scored three goals.
• Sarah Powers had four saves and two ground balls in goal for the Tigers.
