Prokopec ties goal record in Auggie loss at Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. -- Maylynn Prokopec (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) tied an Augsburg University women's lacrosse single-game school record with a seven-goal effort, in Augsburg's 15-11 nonconference loss at Beloit College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Prokopec scored seven of Augsburg's first eight goals, tying a school record set five times before -- by Delaney Everett in 2016, Mikayla Knudson in 2019, Helena Nguyen in 2018, and Tehya Reinbold and Allie Tuccitto in 2021. Prokopec's seven points are tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history.
• Beloit scored the first three goals of the game and never trailed, though the Auggies trimmed the lead to 12-11 on a pair of goals in a 14-second span by Mackenzie Galazen (FY, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) with 8:55 left in the fourth quarter. But Beloit scored three goals in a 1:19 span to clinch the victory.
• In addition to her seven goals, Prokopec had six ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Auggies.
• Galazen added five draw controls, five ground balls and two caused turnovers to her three goal total.
Shelby Ramirez (FY, Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS) scored a goal with three draw controls and a ground ball.
• Alexa Hoffman (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) led the Auggies with seven draw controls, adding an assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Alexa Martin (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had four saves in goal in the first half, adding five ground balls and a caused turnover. Emma Meythaler (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) saw her first collegiate action in goal in the second half, collecting four saves and two ground balls.
• Augsburg outshot Beloit by a 33-32 margin. Both teams had 15 draw controls.

FOR THE FOES
• Johanna McNair scored four goals with two assists to lead Beloit, adding nine ground balls, seven draw controls and six caused turnovers. Chloe Hain and Katrina Sanchez scored three goals each for the Buccaneers.
• Sofia Jeddeloh had 14 saves in goal for Beloit, adding three ground balls.
