MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg athletic teams and fans are partnering together to stock the Augsburg University Campus Cupboard for the spring semester.
Collections of non-perishable food and toiletry items, along with cash donations, will be accepted at the door during the five home athletic events this weekend:
• Friday, February 4th at 7 p.m. -Men's Hockey vs. Gustavus at Ed Saugestad Rink
• Saturday, February 5th at 1 p.m. - Women's Basketball vs. St. Olaf at Si Melby Hall
• Saturday, February 5th at 3 p.m. - Men's Basketball vs. St. Olaf at Si Melby Hall
• Saturday, February 5th at 4 p.m. - Women's Hockey vs. Gustavus at Ed Saugestad Rink
The Campus Cupboard is a free service for any Auggie student who is in need of food. In this school year so far, Auggies have made an average of 669 visits to the Cupboard per month, and the Cupboard has served an average of 223 unique students per month. The Campus Cupboard is located in the Foss Center's Hoversten Chapel and is open at least three days a week. Students may use up to five items per day.
All non-perishable items may be donated, but items that are healthy and/or can be eaten as a meal are especially needed. Campus Cupboard is also looking for toiletry donations.
Food donation examples:
Ramen, Rice, Pasta, Mac & Cheese, Ravioli, Trail Mix, Granola Bars, Protein Bars, Peanut Butter, Canned Soup, Canned Beans, Canned Veggies and Fruits, Honey, Spices, Salt & Pepper, Soy Sauce, Snacks, Paper Grocery Bags, Canned Meat, & Dried Fruit, etc.
Toiletry donation examples:
Shampoo, Toothpaste, Soap, Deodorant, Pads and Tampons, Lotion, etc.
