Five-goal 2nd period sinks Auggies in loss

ST. PETER, Minn. – After a scoreless first period, the No. 6-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's hockey team scored five goals in a 6:49 span, en route to a 6-0 victory over visiting Augsburg University in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Gusties outshot the Auggies by a 13-0 margin in the second period, with goalie Abby Bollig (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) stopping all 13 shots she faced for the Auggies.
• Gustavus took advantage of five Augsburg penalties in the second period, scoring three straight power-play goals in a 4:32 span, adding two more even-strength goals to take a 5-0 lead into the second intermission. The Gusties scored another goal midway through the third period for the final margin.
• The Auggies were outshot by a 33-10 margin in the game. Claire Jenkins Coffman (SO, Mount Pleasant, Wis./The Prairie School) had two shots on-goal for the Auggies.
• Bollig had 17 saves in 31 minutes of action, with Chloe Stockinger (SO, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) recording 10 saves in 29 minutes of relief.

FOR THE FOES
• Kaitlyn Holland had a natural hat trick with three straight goals in the second period, including two power-play goals. Molly McHugh, Kayla Vrieze and Rachel Wieland had the other Gustie goals.
• Katie McCoy had 10 saves in goal for Gustavus.
