TUCSON, Ariz. – The Augsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games on Sunday afternoon at the Tucson Invitational, falling to Sul Ross State (Texas) 12-9 and Concordia University-Wisconsin 17-0 at Kino Sports Complex.

GAME 1 VS SUL ROSS STATE HIGHLIGHTS
• The Auggies got on the board in the first inning with
Connor Stoik (JR, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) scoring on a
Steven Salz (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) single and
Michael Weiss (JR, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS) scoring on a Sul Ross error.
• Augsburg added two more runs in the second when Stoik batted in both
Tim Lavin (SR, Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) and
Kaden Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) on a single.
• The Lobo bats exploded in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs to take a 7-4 lead.
• The Auggies added another run in the third inning when
Carson Tomony (JR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) plated Salz with a single to right field.
• In the sixth inning, Stoik hit a triple to right field to score both
Clint Mattson (JR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) and
Kaden Gage and later scored on a Sul Ross error to make it 8-7 in favor of the Auggies.
• The Lobos would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead at 10-8. Stoik recorded another RBI in the seventh inning as he brought Lavin home to make it a one-run game, but Sul Ross State added two runs in the eighth inning and held the Auggies scoreless the rest of the way to seal the 12-9 win.

Dylan Irving (SR, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) got the start for Augsburg, pitching 2.0 innings with a strikeout, eight hits allowed, and four earned runs allowed.
Jake Skogrand (FY, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) pitched five innings of relief and took the loss, striking out four and allowing four hits and three runs, none of which were earned.
Lukas Nyberg (SR, St. Cloud, Minn./Apollo HS) pitched the final inning, striking out one batter and allowing one hit and one earned run.
• Stoik had a dominant game at the plate, going five-for-six with a triple, five RBIs, and two runs scored for the Auggies.
GAME 2 VS CONCORDIA-WISCONSIN HIGHLIGHTS
• The Auggie offense never found a groove in game two, combing for just five hits total.
• The Falcons scored a run in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth, four in the sixth, and seven in the seventh for a total of 17 runs on 17 hits.

Luke Johnson (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) started the game and took the loss for the Auggies, striking out four and walking three while allowing four hits and two earned runs in 2.2 innings of work.

Owen Bernards (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) also pitched 2.2 innings, striking out one and allowing four hits and three earned runs.
Nick Ishaug (FY, Orono, Minn./Orono HS) pitched the sixth inning for the Auggies, allowing six hits and four earned runs.
Jacob Meiners made his season debut, walking one and allowing three hits and three earned runs in .2 innings.
• Mattson and Stoik each went two-for-three at the plate for Augsburg.
FOR THE FOES
• Jared Lorenz when three-for-five with four RBIs and two runs scored for Sul Ross State.
• Dillan Fike recorded four RBIs and two runs scored and Tristan Largent, Johannes Haakenson, and Sean Tillmon each scored four runs for Concordia-Wisconsin.
