Blugolds top Auggie women's lacrosse

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's lacrosse team dropped a 26-1 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Mackenzie Galazen (FY, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) scored the lone goal of the game for the Auggies, an unassisted marker in the first quarter.
• The Blugolds claimed a 45-12 advantage in shots in the game, including a 20-3 advantage in the second half. UW-Eau Claire also claimed 33 ground balls to Augsburg's 11, had 18 draw controls to Augsburg's 12, and forced 28 Auggie turnovers while committing 16.
• Galazen claimed a draw control in addition to scoring the Auggies' goal.
• Shelby Ramirez (FY, Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS) had two draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
• Alexa Hoffman (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover.
• Kayla Courtney (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Roseville HS) had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
• Emma Meythaler (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had 14 saves in goal for the Auggies, adding a ground ball.

FOR THE FOES
• Alexie Romanelli scored six goals with two assists, five draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers for UW-Eau Claire.
• Kylah Krause scored five goals, and Becky Goetsch scored four goals with an assist.

• Augsburg will travel to Oregon for three games during its spring break week, starting next Wednesday (3/16) at 7 p.m. (Central time) with a game at Willamette (Ore.).
