ST. PETER, Minn. – The Augsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests to Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday afternoon, falling 14-1 in game one and 17-3 in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• The Golden Gusties wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard in game one, scoring seven runs in the first two innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
• Augsburg got on the board in the top of the third with a bases-loaded walk of
Steven Salz (JR, Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) that scored
Kaden Gage (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), but the scoring stopped there for the Auggies.
• Gustavus would add two more runs in the fourth and five more in the sixth to secure the dominant 14-1 victory.

Austin Jerylo (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) started the game and took the loss for Augsburg, allowing eight hits and seven runs with one strikeout in 2.0 innings of work.

Owen Bernards (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Central HS) pitched 2.0 innings of relief, allowing five hits and two runs with two strikeouts.
Derek Albers (JR, Dundas, Minn./Northfield HS) finished out the game, throwing 2.0 innings and allowing six hits and five runs with two strikeouts.

Connor Stoik (JR, Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) and
Jake Skogrand (FY, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) recorded the lone hits for the Auggies, with Stoik's single coming in the third and Skogrand's coming in the fourth.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Gustavus jumped all over the Auggies early on again in game two, jumping out to a 16-0 lead through four innings of play.
• The Auggies got on the board in the top of the fifth when
Brandon Lockhart (FY, Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a single through the left side and stealing second base.
• Later in the fifth, Augsburg struck again when
Michael Weiss (JR, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS) brought
Ty Gage (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) around to score on a single to the shortstop. The Auggies added their third and final run just one at bat later when
Noah Thomas (JR, Woodbury, Minn./East Rigge HS) came around to score on another wild pitch.
• Gustavus added one more run in the bottom of the sixth, making it a 17-3 ballgame.

Matt Moe (SR, St. Cloud, Minn./Becker HS) took the loss for Augsburg, giving up nine hits and eight runs in his 1.1 innings pitched.

Matthew Rones (SR, Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman HS) tossed one scoreless inning for the Auggies, walking one batter and allowing just one hit.
• Lockhart and Weiss each had two hits, with Lockhart going two-for-three and Weiss going two-for-four.
FOR THE FOES
• Christian Johnson had a strong outing on the mound in game one, striking out six batters and allowing just two hits and one run.
• Nick Azar was a combined six-for-six in the doubleheader with two RBIs and two runs scored.
