Auggies fall to Southwestern

MINNEAPOLIS -- Outshot by a 37-8 margin in the game, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-4 nonconference decision to Southwestern University (Texas) on Saturday morning at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Pirates outshot Augsburg by a 16-1 margin in the first quarter, scoring the first seven goals of the game en route to a 10-1 advantage. Augsburg cut the advantage to 13-3 at halftime, but could not get any closer.
Malia Neumann (FY, Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) and Maylynn Prokopec (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) scored two goals each for the Auggies. Neumann added five draw controls, two ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Mackenzie Galazen (FY, Kimball, Minn./Rocori HS) contributed three ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Shelby Ramirez (FY, Winthrop, Minn./Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop HS) had two draw controls and a caused turnover.
Rylan Lee (FY, Parker, Colo./Ponderosa HS) and Alexa Hoffman (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) each had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Emma Meythaler (FY, Golden Valley, Minn./Hopkins HS) had six saves in goal, adding two ground balls.

FOR THE FOES
• Raven Garcia scored five goals with two ground balls and a caused tunover to lead the Pirates.
• Deanna Hames scored three goals with two assists, six draw controls, two ground balls and two caued turnovers.
