MINNEAPOLIS – The 24
th-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team picked up its seventh consecutive win on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies got off to a slower start than they would have liked, quickly finding themselves in an 8-2 hole to open the first set. Augsburg eventually woke up, winning 11 of the next 14 points to take a 13-11 lead. The Cobbers responded to tie the set back up at 14 each, but an 11-1 run by the Auggies to close the set gave them a 1-0 lead in the match.
• The second set had a similar feel with the Cobbers holding an early 11-7 advantage. The two teams went back and forth with neither leading by more than four at any point, but it was the Auggies closing stronger once again as they hung on for a 25-23 win to go up 2-0 in the match.
• Augsburg was in control from the opening serve in the third set, cruising to a dominant 25-8 win to complete the sweep of the Cobbers.
• Augsburg compiled 36 kills with nine errors on 96 attempts to hit .281 while the Cobbers hit a dismal -.036 with 24 kills and 28 errors on 110 attempts. The Auggies also held a significant advantage in blocks with nine to Concordia's one.

Kayla Gjerde (SR, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) anchored the Augsburg attack all afternoon, hitting .378 to lead the team with 15 kills and just a single error on 37 attempts. Gjerde also added six digs and an assist in the match.
Jade Fullerton (SR, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) was second on the team with six kills and just one error on 14 attempts for a .357 hitting percentage.

Angel Vo (SO, Blaine, Minn./Mounds View HS) led the defensive effort with 13 digs while
Torrie Rehder (SO, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) and
Emily Kaup (SO, Omaha, Neb./Duchesne Academy) added nine digs each.
FOR THE FOES
• Kendra Wiggs led the Cobbers with nine kills while Chloe Markovic was the only Cobber in double figures with 12 digs.

• Augsburg will travel to Decorah, Iowa for the Luther College Invitational where they will take on Luther College at 5pm on Friday (9/23) and both the University of Dubuque and Lawrence University on Saturday (9/24).
