Auggie women net sweep with 7th straight win

BLAINE, Minn. – Scoring its most goals against a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent since the 2017-18 season, the Augsburg University women's hockey extended its winning streak to seven straight games with an 8-2 victory and a series sweep of Bethel University on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Leading 3-2 after two periods, the Auggies exploded with a five-goal third period -- with four goals coming in a 3:27 span early in the frame -- to pull away for the victory. Augsburg scored its five goals on 13 shots in the third period, part of a 52-13 shots on-goal advantage in the game.
• Seven different Auggies scored goals for the Auggies. Emily Cronkhite (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored two goals -- the first goal of the game on a power-play midway through the first period, and on a penalty shot midway through the second period to give the Auggies a 3-1 lead.
• Kennedy Stein (JR, Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest HS) scored a goal with three assists for the Auggies, while Jenna Gerold (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) scored a goal with two assists, and Sydney Rydel (JR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) scored a goal with an assist.
Payton Allen (SR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) scored a power-play goal in the first period, and Katie Flynn (SR, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) and Emily Schoeberl (FY, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) also added goals. 
Claire Jenkins Coffman (JR, Mount Pleasant, Wis./The Prairie School) and Nora Stepan (FY, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS) contributed assists for the Auggies.
• Augsburg outshot Bethel by a 23-1 margin in the first period, 16-8 margin in the second period and 13-4 margin in the third period for its 52-13 shot advantage. 
Chloe Stockinger (JR, Sauk Rapids, Minn./Sauk Rapids-Rice HS) had 11 saves in goal to gain the victory.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The eight goals for Augsburg were its most in a game since a 10-0 home win over Marian (Wis.) on Jan. 4, 2020, and its most goals against an MIAC opponent since a 9-1 win over St. Olaf on Jan. 27, 2018.
• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 41-21 margin in 14 games this season.

• Anna Hanson had 44 saves in goal for Bethel.
